My site is displayed one way on the default mobile app page (i.e. Category, Company, Last Name), but when I do a search the results are displayed in a different order (they are listed by the search term only. You have to expand them to find out the Category and Company). If I search on the last name Smith, I get 12 Smith's, but all that is displayed is their last name.
Can search results be organized differently using the basic plugin and search server express 2008 or is that a custom app?

Right now, search results display using the displayTitle field of the Query object. It should look similar to when you do the search from a full browser with the out-of-the-box search results page.
Your best option, currently, for a more detailed search-result view would be a custom app. We will, however, take this into consideration as a place for improvement.
